Bacoa isn’t just a restaurant

It’s a Hamburgueseria. Since 2010 we’ve been bringing high quality, freshly cooked burgers and hand-cut chips to our loyal fans. We believe fast food can also be good food with the right approach. The “hamburguesa” has been a staple on Spanish menus for decades. So with this as our inspiration – along with the rich variety of Spanish cheeses, hams and other quality products – we have given this old classic a new look and taste!

Our place

Bacoa is a “Hamburgueseria” so we have a very casual approach to eating. We try to create an open atmosphere where everyone feels welcome. All we ask is that you use our recycling bins and clear your plate after eating.

Our Ingredients

We know it sounds like a cliché these days but we really mean it – Quality food comes from quality produce. And here’s the proof:


We only use premium quality 18-month beef, raised in the cool climates of Asturias and Castilla y León in Northern Spain. We work closely with our family-run provider to ensure only the best flavour is achieved using “dry aged” cuts. To ensure tenderness our burgers are double-ground, and never frozen or pre-cooked.

Choose our local certified organic option,  a delicious blend made fresh every day and never frozen. Only free range beef from the Pyrenees Mountains will do.


The best lamb in Spain (in our humble opinion) comes from Burgos. We use select cuts with just the right amount of fat to keep them juicy!


At Bacoa only the breast will do, trimmed and then marinated over-night in a delicious blend of paprika, garlic and lemon juice! Char-grilled or crumbed and crispy fried, you decide.


A tasty and healthy mix of “Leon D.O.” chickpeas and fresh vegetables, hand shaped in our kitchen every week. A hearty feast for non-meat eaters and vegans!


All our buns are hand rolled (giving them their characteristic rustic shape), dusted with poppy seeds and delivered daily.


Felix sources Bacoa’s fruit and vegetables as locally as possible. He was our very first provider (and now friend) from the Mercat de Santa Caterina barrio. We have to give him the credit for constantly seeking out the best “patata agria” for our delicious bravas.


All our salsas, mustards, bravas, ketchups, mayos and aiolis are all handmade in our kitchen from scratch, using fresh, unprocessed ingredients.

Ice Cream

Our Icecreams are made by us. We use biscuits and cakes chopped up to get real taste and texture, not artificial powders.

Bacoa offers a wide range of culinary options for guests with dietary requirements.

While our food does not contain eggs, fish, shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts or any other kind of nuts, we cannot guarantee that cross contact with allergens will not occur and neither Bacoa or our employees assume any responsibility for a person’s sensitivity or allergy to any food item provided in our restaurants.

If you have a food allergy, please consult with your healthcare practitioner about which diet is right for you.


We offer a vegetarian version of our Seasonal Special, using a designated section of our char grill for vegetarian burgers only. All sauces, salads and potatoes are suitable for vegetarians.

All meatless ingredients are handled by our employees in common with meat ingredients, which may not be acceptable to certain types of vegetarian diets.


When ordering, please ask the cashier to exclude cheese and mayo on the vegetarian burger to make it suitable for a vegan diet.

Lactose Intolerance

Only our cheeses contain any dairy.

Gluten intolerance / Celiac Disease

We do offer all our burgers without buns, prepared on a plate with the accompanying ingredients.

When ordering, please be sure to ask your cashier for gluten free options.

Please understand that, due to the nature of our ordering system, Bacoa cannot take any reservations (including by email or phone) at this time. If you come with a group please consider visiting us for an early lunch or early dinner to make sure you can easily find a seat.

Social Driven Design: Our Bacoa Chair II

We have been developing the second model of our chair.

Together with South African designer Nic Tamlin we have been developing the second model of our BACOA chair. This time we have combined traditional materials with recycled tomato crates. The space under the chair lets you store your bag, keeping it safe while you enjoy your burger.
